Here’s the thing about ACT preparation in Dubai. Many families we meet never planned to look at the ACT. They started with the SAT, because that’s the test most classmates talk about. Then something didn’t quite click. Maybe practice scores stalled, or a friend switched tests and suddenly felt more at home.
So the questions start piling up. “Is the ACT easier than the SAT?” “Does Science still count?” “Is it too late to take it this year?” Honestly, those are smart questions. They deserve genuine answers, not a sales pitch.
Here’s another wrinkle, because the ACT changed recently. Outside the US, it got shorter in February 2026, with fewer questions and an optional Science section. Plenty of advice online still describes the old test, which can send a student the wrong way for months.
That’s why our ACT prep starts with diagnosis, not drills. The Mindprint Assessment shows how your child learns and whether the SAT or the ACT suits them better. Then it sets a starting baseline and a realistic target score. Live one-to-one online sessions, weekly full-length mocks and detailed parent updates take it from there.
It all begins with a free consultation. No pressure. Just a clear picture of where your child stands and which test makes sense.
Programme figures come from our SAT and ACT programme brochure. The programme is powered by Sparkl and serves families in more than 30 countries.
Hale Education Group is licensed in Dubai and KHDA-certified for test preparation and university admissions guidance. Our office sits on the 22nd floor of The One Tower in Barsha Heights. Hundreds of UAE families already trust us with admissions counselling and test prep.
Our SAT and ACT programme, powered by Sparkl, brings 23+ years of excellence in SAT and ACT preparation. It also counts over 10,000 student success stories worldwide, with families in more than 30 countries. Between them, our SAT and ACT faculty bring over 60 years of international test prep experience.
So why does an ACT page talk about admissions? Because the ACT rarely stands alone. A student aiming for US universities needs the score, grades, essays and activities to line up. When one team sees all of it, nothing slips through the cracks.
Many families searching for ACT prep classes in Dubai picture a classroom. Our ACT preparation in Dubai runs live and online instead. One-to-one is our flagship format, and there’s a 1:2 small group for students who like a study partner. Nobody sits in traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road. A student in Mirdif gets the same programme as a student in Dubai Marina.
Our tutors bring more than instruction, and that matters. Through personalised one-on-one sessions, they mentor students and build confidence. The aim is an effective, independent learner, not just a higher number.
We won’t promise a 36. Nobody honest can. What we do promise is a clear plan, regular full-length testing and detailed feedback after every session.
The same team also offers IB, Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA and AP tutoring, plus SAT and TMUA preparation.
Here’s what makes our ACT test preparation in Dubai different, in plain terms.
Good ACT preparation in Dubai starts with understanding today’s test. And the ACT has changed considerably in a short time. Some Dubai pages still list 75 English questions and a four-section composite. That’s the old test, so here’s the version your child will actually sit.
| Section | Questions | Time | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | 50 | 35 minutes | Core |
| Math | 45 | 50 minutes | Core |
| Reading | 36 | 40 minutes | Core |
| Core total | 131 | 125 minutes (2 hours 5 minutes) | Required |
| Science | 40 | 40 minutes | Optional |
| Writing | 1 essay | 40 minutes | Optional |
These times exclude check-in and breaks. Adding Science raises the testing time to 2 hours 45 minutes. The figures come from ACT’s official test enhancements page.
The changes came in two steps. From September 2025, Science became optional and every ACT moved to a new composite score. Then in February 2026, the shorter enhanced ACT reached international test takers. ACT’s international site confirms both steps. The test now has fewer questions and some shorter passages. Math questions also have four answer choices, down from five.
Outside the US, the ACT is computer-based. Students sit it at approved test centres, on the centre’s own computers.
Each core section is scored from 1 to 36. The Composite score averages English, Math and Reading, so it uses the same scale. Science doesn’t count toward it. Students who take Science get a separate Science score and a STEM score. Writing gets its own score too. There’s no penalty for wrong answers, so never leave a question blank.
Well, it depends on the university list. Most colleges treat Science as optional, but a few want it. In August 2026, one widely used US policy tracker listed Marquette and Pomona as requiring Science. Georgetown and Duke recommend it, while MIT, Caltech and Harvard list it as optional. Policies shift regularly, so check each university’s admissions page before you register.
According to ACT’s calculator policy, students taking the ACT online can use a built-in Desmos graphing calculator during Math. Calculators with a computer algebra system, like the TI-89 and TI-Nspire CAS, are banned. Students who practise with Desmos properly can save valuable time on graphing questions.
Scores also arrive relatively quickly outside the US. Initial scores usually arrive five or six days after the test, according to ACT’s international schedule.
ACT’s retest guide says there’s no limit on how many times students can sit the test. On average, students take it two to three times. Per ACT, students who first score 13 to 29 gain about one point on average when they retest. So a retake works best with focused preparation in between.
ACT also produces a superscore, which averages your best English, Math and Reading scores across attempts. You can’t retake single sections, though. Many colleges accept superscores, but policies differ, so always check each college individually.
This is the question we hear most often. And honestly, there’s no universal answer. US colleges that ask for test scores accept both. Neither test is easier. They simply reward different strengths. That’s why good ACT preparation in Dubai begins with this decision, not after it.
| Feature | ACT | SAT |
|---|---|---|
| Run by | ACT | College Board |
| Format outside the US | Computer-based, on test centre computers | Bluebook app on a laptop or tablet, at a test centre |
| Core sections | English, Math, Reading | Reading and Writing, Math |
| Optional sections | Science, Writing | None |
| Questions and time | 131 questions in 2 hours 5 minutes | 98 questions in 2 hours 14 minutes |
| Adaptive? | No. Every student gets a fixed set of questions | Yes. The second module adapts to the first |
| Calculator | Built-in Desmos when testing online | Built-in Desmos for all of Math |
| Score scale | 1 to 36 | 400 to 1600 |
The SAT figures come from the College Board’s 2026 to 2027 SAT International Student Guide.
Here’s the clearest gap: ACT English gives about 42 seconds per question. SAT Reading and Writing gives about 71. ACT Math allows roughly 67 seconds a question, against about 95 on the SAT. So the ACT rewards quick, steady decisions. Students who read fast and like direct questions often feel at home with it. Students who prefer additional thinking time may lean towards the SAT. In our experience, though, plenty of students surprise themselves.
Guessing which test suits your child gets expensive, because months of prep for the wrong test hurts. In our ACT preparation in Dubai, the Mindprint Assessment helps determine SAT versus ACT before the course begins. It’s also available on its own, with a performance report and a one-on-one discussion. Already leaning towards the SAT? Our SAT preparation page covers that test in detail.
ACT and the College Board released an official concordance table linking the two scales in 2018.
| ACT Composite | SAT total range |
|---|---|
| 36 | 1570 to 1600 |
| 35 | 1530 to 1560 |
| 34 | 1490 to 1520 |
| 33 | 1450 to 1480 |
| 30 | 1360 to 1380 |
The table compares scores, but it doesn’t predict how a student will do on the other test. That’s what practice tests are for.
Most ACT preparation courses in Dubai focus on content, but content is only half the job. Our programme builds core skills in Math and Verbal, meaning reading and writing skills. It also teaches test-taking strategy, adds daily targeted practice and runs a mock test every week. The full SAT and ACT Prep Course is a 60-hour personalised programme. Here’s exactly how it lines up with the ACT.
| ACT section | Counts toward the Composite? | What it tests | Our course block |
|---|---|---|---|
| English | Yes | Grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and the flow of a passage | Foundation Verbal |
| Math | Yes | Number and quantity, algebra, functions, geometry, statistics and probability, plus modelling | Foundation Math |
| Reading | Yes | Main ideas, details, the author’s craft and how ideas connect across texts | Foundation Verbal |
| Science | No. It’s optional | Reading graphs, tables and experiments | Not in our course outline. Ask us at your consultation |
| Writing | No. It’s optional | A 40-minute essay where students build their own argument | Not in our course outline. Ask us at your consultation |
ACT Math gives students 45 questions in 50 minutes, each with four answer choices. Our Foundation Math block builds the algebra, geometry, function and data skills it rewards, from the ground up.
One small pet peeve of ours? Students who skip the basics to chase “hard” questions. Most lost marks on tough questions trace back to a shaky ratio or percentage step. So we fix foundations first.
ACT English is essentially an editing test. ACT Reading checks how well students follow, analyse and connect ideas in a passage. Our Foundation Verbal block builds the grammar, usage and reading comprehension skills both sections reward.
That matters in Dubai, where many students speak English as a second or third language. They often reason brilliantly, then lose marks on a comma or a misplaced modifier. Grammar foundations usually close that gap quickly.
Here’s the honest answer. Our course outline covers Math and Verbal skills, which feed the three sections in the Composite. ACT Science and the ACT Writing essay aren’t in that outline. Both are optional, and neither counts toward the Composite. A few colleges do want Science, as the format section above explains. So check your child’s university list before registering for either one. If Science or Writing matters for your list, raise it at your free consultation.
The ACT is essentially a race against the clock. At about 42 seconds per English question, there’s little room to linger. So timing is a big focus of our ACT preparation in Dubai. Sparky Assist sessions demonstrate shortcuts in solved examples. Students then apply them across practice questions, and repetition builds speed. We also practise smart guessing and knowing when to move on.
Live proctored mock tests run every Saturday and Sunday morning (IST). India Standard Time runs 1.5 hours ahead of the UAE. Each week also includes 2 hours of dedicated mock and practice review. Daily targeted practice keeps working on weak areas between lessons.
Let’s talk money, because nearly every parent asks about it first, and that’s completely fair. Listed ACT courses in Dubai vary a lot. Published courses of 28 to 36 hours range from roughly AED 3,500 to AED 5,800. Many providers don’t publish prices at all. Our advice for anyone comparing ACT preparation in Dubai? Look carefully at what each fee includes, not just the headline price.
Our ACT course fees in Dubai are set by package, not by the hour. All prices exclude VAT.
Want a private ACT tutor in Dubai who focuses only on your child? This is our flagship option.
Looking for ACT group classes in Dubai without a crowded room? Our small group keeps it to two students.
This one suits students who’ve finished conceptual learning. They want to focus on testing and improvement.
A diagnostic package that pinpoints learning strengths, gaps and exam suitability, SAT versus ACT.
Our view on ACT preparation in Dubai? Seriously consider the two-attempt options. In our experience, many students feel calmer the second time they sit the test. The two-attempt Flagship plan adds AED 2,350 over the single attempt. It also adds 12 more mocks and 12 to 14 more review hours.
All prices exclude VAT and may change at management’s discretion.
Our ACT preparation in Dubai usually follows five steps. Students on the Test and Discussion package often jump straight to step five. That’s completely fine.
We start with a relaxed chat, online or at our Barsha Heights office. Which universities are on the list, and which test date makes sense? What else is happening at school? Students often say, “I know the maths, I just run out of time.” On the ACT, that one sentence tells us a lot.
Next comes the Mindprint Assessment, a 45 to 60 minute diagnostic. It’s more than an ACT diagnostic test. Mindprint is one of the leading learner profile assessments in the US. It helps decide between the SAT and the ACT, then sets a starting baseline and a realistic target score. It also builds a detailed learner profile. That profile lets us shape the course around your child’s learning style and cognitive strengths.
Each student gets a dedicated team of 3 specialised tutors. The plan follows the learner profile, so lessons speed up or slow down to match how your child works. Progress is rarely a straight line, and that’s completely normal.
Live 1-on-1 online sessions cover Foundation Math and Foundation Verbal. After every tutor-led session, a Sparky Assist AI session reinforces the concept. Daily targeted practice keeps weak areas moving.
Students sit 15 full-length mocks before a first attempt and 12 before a second. Live proctored mocks run on Saturday and Sunday mornings (IST). Then come 2 hours a week of dedicated mock and practice review. Parents get detailed progress reports after every single tutor session. Sometimes the plan changes halfway through. We’d rather adjust in week four than discover a gap the week before the test.
Not sure if your child is an ACT student or an SAT student? Book a free consultation and leave with a clear next step.
We’re not interested in gimmicks. Here are the platforms and resources behind our ACT preparation in Dubai, and why each one earns its place.
Our ACT mock tests run on ScoreSmart, a leading SAT and ACT simulation tool. It mirrors real test conditions, and each mock ends with insights students can act on. Students also get full access to practice tests on the platform.
Live lessons run on Infinity, our own tutoring platform. Feedback happens in real time, so a mistake gets corrected immediately, not days later.
Sparky Assist is an AI-led revision tool, powered by Sparkl. After each tutor session, it guides students through concept slides, solved examples and practice questions, followed by feedback. Solved examples reveal common traps, and practice questions then let students spot those traps themselves. Students can ask questions at any point and get instant answers. Every example mirrors real ACT patterns. Shortcuts shown in the examples get applied across the practice questions, so speed builds with repetition. And students can revisit any Sparky session as many times as they need.
Students get an extensive bank of Math and Verbal practice material. It covers every difficulty level, from the basics to the hardest questions.
ACT offers free official ACT practice tests and sample questions on its website. We think good ACT preparation in Dubai should use them alongside our mocks. An official practice score is a useful second opinion.
Here’s what frustrates us a little. Families hear “test-optional” and assume test scores no longer matter. For many top US universities, that’s simply outdated. That’s why we believe ACT preparation in Dubai should start with the university list.
And then there’s the emotional pressure, which families often underestimate. Dubai students often juggle IB or A Level coursework, sport and long school days. Add an ACT on top, and sleep is usually the first thing to go. We’ve seen capable students decide they’re “just slow at tests.” That belief is usually wrong, and it’s fixable. Speed is a skill, and that’s where structured ACT preparation in Dubai earns its keep. For the bigger picture, read our Dubai parent’s guide to the admissions process.
Early support helps in a few practical ways:
| University | Policy for fall 2027 entry |
|---|---|
| Harvard | Test scores required. AP or IB results accepted only when testing isn’t accessible |
| Yale | Test scores required. AP and IB no longer substitute |
| MIT | Test scores required |
| Stanford | Test scores required |
| Dartmouth | Test scores required, with some alternatives for students at schools outside the US |
| Brown | Test scores required |
| University of Pennsylvania | Test scores required, with a hardship waiver |
| Cornell | Test scores required for every college |
| Columbia and Princeton | Test-optional for fall 2027, with scores required from fall 2028 |
The ACT meets the requirement at every university listed. These policies were checked in October 2026, using The College Investor’s 2027 list. They change often, so always confirm on each university’s admissions page. Our counsellors help families read these rules against a student’s real plans.
Outside the US, the ACT costs $188.50. Science takes it to $198.50, Writing to $213.50 and both to $223.50. That’s roughly AED 690 to AED 820 a sitting. Late registration adds $42, and changing your date or centre costs $49. These fees come from ACT’s international fees page. A rushed sitting isn’t cheap, and neither is a retake.
Timing costs matter too, since many US colleges have Early Decision and Early Action deadlines on 1 November. Students who start late can run out of test dates before their deadlines arrive. Some US colleges also weigh test scores when awarding merit scholarships. Policies vary, but a stronger score can widen the options.
The UAE cancelled the EmSAT requirement for Grade 12 students in late 2024. Government universities now determine their own admission criteria. So if a UAE university is on your list, check its admissions page directly.
Behind our ACT preparation in Dubai sits Hale’s own team of test prep instructors and admissions counsellors. Together, our SAT and ACT faculty bring over 60 years of international test prep experience. Here are the people families meet most often. You can meet the full team on our website.

Our counsellors help families fit ACT dates around grades, essays and application deadlines.
Here’s what our test prep programme can point to so far.
These figures come from our SAT and ACT programme brochure. The programme is powered by Sparkl and serves families in more than 30 countries. So the figures aren’t limited to Dubai.
On the admissions side, Hale students have earned more than 850 university offers and over $90M in merit scholarships.
Hale is rated 4.8 on Google. You can read the reviews on our Google profile before you book. Hearing from other families is often the most useful check of all.
We won’t invent glowing quotes with made-up names. But some comments come up again and again. Parents often tell us the updates after every session finally show them what’s happening. Students say weekly mocks made test day feel familiar, even a bit boring. And many families say the biggest relief was simply knowing which test to take.
We also hear the frustrating stuff. Honestly, it bothers us when students practise from old ACT books. Those books still have 75 English questions and five answer choices in Math. Practising the outdated format builds unhelpful pacing habits. Every Sparky example mirrors real ACT patterns instead.
Every student’s path is different, and results vary. That’s why our ACT preparation in Dubai starts with a diagnosis instead of a promise.
Others promise. Hale delivers.
Good ACT preparation in Dubai has to fit real Dubai life. That means school calendars, Ramadan routines and exam season.
Dubai students arrive from very different educational backgrounds. IB Diploma students often juggle ACT prep with IA and Extended Essay deadlines. British curriculum students may be less used to fast, US-style multiple choice. American curriculum students often find ACT content close to their schoolwork. CBSE students are often strong in Math, but ACT English and its pace can feel unfamiliar. The Mindprint profile helps us spot these patterns early.
| ACT date | Register by | Late deadline | Scores from | What’s happening in Dubai |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 11 and 12 December 2026 | 13 November 2026 | 27 November 2026 | 17 December 2026 | Just before winter break (14 December to 3 January) |
| 12 and 13 February 2027 | 15 January 2027 | 29 January 2027 | 18 February 2027 | Expected first week of Ramadan |
| 2 and 3 April 2027 | 5 March 2027 | 19 March 2027 | 8 April 2027 | The weekend before spring break (5 to 11 April) |
| 11 and 12 June 2027 | 14 May 2027 | 28 May 2027 | 17 June 2027 | After most May exams, three weeks before school ends on 2 July |
| 9 and 10 July 2027 | 11 June 2027 | 25 June 2027 | 15 July 2027 | First week of the summer holidays |
Each test also has a photo upload deadline, the same day as the late deadline. These dates come from ACT’s international test dates. Ramadan and school dates are expected dates, based on Khaleej Times and The National. Confirm them with your school.
Students register online through a free MyACT account. You’ll need your high school code and about 30 minutes. Then upload a photo before the photo deadline. On test day, bring an original, valid photo ID, such as your passport. The name must match your MyACT registration. Seats at popular centres can go quickly, so book as soon as you pick a date. If you’re wondering whether to wait, don’t.
Here’s a local detail many families miss. Most international ACT dates run over a Friday and a Saturday. Centres can offer a morning and an afternoon session, depending on location. Many Dubai schools finish early on Fridays. Still, a Saturday seat usually means no missed lessons at all. Check which sessions your chosen centre offers before you book.
Summer is a smart time to start ACT preparation in Dubai. Days are long, school is out, and the heat keeps most people indoors anyway. The February 2027 ACT needs extra thought, because Ramadan is expected to start around 8 February. Fasting students may want lighter study days. The July date suits students who’d rather test once school has finished.
The UAE weekend runs Saturday to Sunday. That’s exactly when our live proctored mocks happen, on Saturday and Sunday mornings (IST). IST is 1.5 hours ahead, so mocks start a little earlier on the Dubai clock. Weekend morning mocks train the body clock as well as the brain.
Do a trial drive to the test centre the week before. Weekend traffic in Dubai can be unpredictable. Upload your photo well before the deadline. Pack your original passport and admission ticket the night before. Practise with Desmos, and check any calculator you plan to bring against ACT’s banned list. Small details like these protect months of careful preparation.
There are plenty of ACT tutors in Dubai, and some are very good. So why do families choose Hale for ACT coaching in Dubai? Here’s our pitch for ACT preparation in Dubai, without the hype.
Our ACT prep course starts with the Mindprint Assessment. It helps decide between the SAT and the ACT, then sets a baseline and a realistic target. Preparing for the wrong test wastes months of expensive effort.
Each student works with a dedicated team of 3 specialised tutors. That’s specialist support, not one generalist doing everything.
Fifteen full-length mocks before a first attempt is a lot of practice. That’s the point. By test day, the ACT’s pace should feel routine.
You’ll receive detailed updates after every session. There’s no waiting for the next mock to see how things are going.
Our packages and prices are published on this page. You’ll know what you’re paying for before you start.
Hale also provides university admissions counselling. So families can plan test dates, applications and deadlines together.
Hale is KHDA-certified, with a real office in Barsha Heights. You can meet us face to face before your child logs on.
Our ACT prep in Dubai reaches students right across the city. That includes Dubai Marina, JLT, Al Barsha, Jumeirah, Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai and Business Bay. Families in Dubai Hills Estate, Arabian Ranches, JVC, Mirdif and Dubai Silicon Oasis work with us too. Consultations can happen at our Barsha Heights office.
Families in Khalifa City, Saadiyat Island, Yas Island and Al Reem Island join our live online sessions. Online ACT preparation works the same way across the UAE.
Students in Al Majaz, Muwaileh and Aljada learn with us online. Families who’d like a face-to-face chat can visit our Dubai office.
We also teach online for families in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. They get the same packages, mocks and parent updates.
Online students outside the UAE: We also teach ACT students online in Saudi Arabia and Singapore. Our programme serves families in more than 30 countries.
These are the questions parents ask us most about ACT preparation in Dubai, with short, honest answers.
Well, it depends on the package. Our Flagship 1:1 programme costs AED 7,550 for one attempt or AED 9,900 for two. The 1:2 small group costs AED 5,900 for two attempts. The Test and Discussion package costs AED 4,000. A Mindprint Assessment with discussion costs AED 700. All prices exclude VAT.
Honestly, it depends on the student. US colleges that ask for test scores accept both. The ACT moves faster, while the SAT gives more time per question and adapts as you go. Our Mindprint Assessment helps decide which test suits your child before prep begins.
Yes. Since September 2025, Science has been optional and doesn’t count toward the Composite. Students who take it get a Science score and a STEM score. A few colleges require or recommend it, so check your list first.
Our ACT course outline covers Math and Verbal skills for English, Math and Reading. Those are the three sections in the Composite. Science and the Writing essay aren’t in the outline, and both are optional. If your child’s universities want either one, mention it at your free consultation.
The Composite is the average of your English, Math and Reading scores. Each section is scored from 1 to 36, so the Composite is too. Science and Writing are reported separately.
It varies, but most students need a few months. Our Flagship course has 30 hours of conceptual instruction. Then come 15 full-length mocks with 18 to 20 hours of review before the first attempt. Students who’ve already covered the content can move faster.
ACT says there’s no limit. On average, students take it two to three times to reach their goals. ACT also creates a superscore from your best English, Math and Reading scores. Planning two sittings from the start takes pressure off the first.
In most cases, yes. Outside the US, the ACT itself is taken on a computer, so practising on screen makes sense. Live 1-on-1 sessions keep the focus entirely on your child. And nobody loses an hour to traffic.
The next international dates are 11 and 12 December 2026, then 12 and 13 February 2027. After that come 2 and 3 April, 11 and 12 June, and 9 and 10 July 2027. Regular registration closes about four weeks before each test, and the late deadline is two weeks before.
The ACT runs as a computer-based test at approved test centres in the UAE. You choose a centre when you register in your MyACT account. Bring an original, valid photo ID, such as your passport. Book early, because seats can fill up.
Outside the US, the ACT costs $188.50, or about AED 690. Science adds $10 and Writing adds $25. Late registration costs $42. Fees are set by ACT and can change.
Well, it depends on the university. At MIT, the middle half of admitted students in the Class of 2029 scored 34 to 36. Plenty of excellent universities admit students below that range. So build your university list first, then set the target.
Yes. Our Test and Discussion package suits students who’ve finished the content. It includes 10 to 12 full-length mocks and 18 to 20 hours of detailed review. Two-attempt plans also include a second cycle of 12 mocks.
